Course Location
Himalayan Holistic Yoga conducts advanced yoga teacher training at its Yoga Ashram in Rishikesh, India. You can easily reach the ashram by taxi from Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun). The ashram is situated near waterfalls and the holy river Ganges, and provides an ideal setting and facilities to practise yoga and experience the yogic lifestyle.

Patanjali Yoga Sutras: Sage Patanjali has explained the philosophy and practice of Yoga in a quite scientific and practical way in his book “Yoga Sutras”. This book provides practical guidelines for experiencing the ultimate state of consciousness, commonly known as Ashtanga Yoga or the Eight Limbs of Yoga. As part of the discourse, we will recount Ashtanga Yoga from 200 hours of discourse and discuss important sutras, including the last two chapters.
Hatha Yoga Pradipika: Yogi Atmaram wrote this classic hatha yoga text. The instructions given are very helpful in understanding the mechanics of the body and channelling the energy to create harmony. By bringing balance between Sun (Ha) and Moon (Tha) one can prepare for high potential. Topics include:

The Gheranda Samhita: The Gheranda Samhita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika are the two earliest documents on Hatha Yoga, which have been studied for centuries. The techniques of Hatha Yoga are able to refine and shape the body. Some of the major areas covered by these texts are: Introduction to Gheranda Samhita, Seven stages of Ghata Yoga, Benefits of Ghata Yoga, Classification of asanas and their benefits according to Hatha Yoga & Ghata Yoga Study, Purification techniques .
Upanishads: Upanishads, derived from the phrase “to sit with oneself” or “to sit in the presence of a guru”, contain insights gained by yogis discussing liberation through wisdom. This discussion on Yoga written in a conversational form is easy to understand. Through the study of the Upanishads, one can develop discrimination between the real and the unreal, which helps them to bring yoga into their daily lives. This class provides a nuanced understanding of the anatomy and physiology of human organ systems, which is key to one’s yogic practice, and provides an understanding of the chakras and koshas between human anatomy and physiology, with a brief discussion of the remaining organ systems. have a relationship with. Lymphatic and Immune System: Function of lymphatic system, major and subsidiary organs (lymph, lymph nodes, spleen, tonsils, thymus, capillaries), structure of blood corpuscles (red blood corpuscles, white blood corpuscles, platelets). Plasma, lymph, haemoglobin, coagulation and anticoagulant of blood, blood groups and their importance, lymphatic system, immune types and mechanism of immunity. The connection of the lymphatic system with the pranamaya kosha.
Cardiovascular System: Function of cardiovascular system, major and accessory organs (heart, blood vessels – veins, arteries). Properties of cardiac muscle, cardiac cycle and control of circulation, cardiac output, blood pressure, heart rate. Relation of cardiovascular system to Annamaya Kosha.
Respiratory System: Function of respiratory system, major organs (nasal cavity, trachea, lungs, bronchioles, bronchial tree, alveolar sacs, diaphragm, chest, shoulder and back muscles). Respiratory system, Exchange of gases, Pulmonary function tests, Lung volumes, Control of respiration. Relation of respiratory system with Annamaya Kosha.
Digestive System: Function of the digestive system, major and accessory organs (mouth, salivary glands, tongue, oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, small and large intestines). Mechanism of secretion: saliva, gastric juice, pancreatic enzymes, bile, intestinal secretion. The role of these secretions in digestion of food, absorption and assimilation of nutrients and excretion of faeces. Relation of digestive system to Annamaya Kosha.
Endocrine System: Function, major and accessory organs of the endocrine system (thyroid, parathyroid, hypothalamus, thalamus, adrenal glands, hippocampus, pituitary gland, reproductive glands). The hormones produced by these glands and their effect on hypo- and hyperactivity of the body. The role of insulin in glucose metabolism. Relation of the endocrine system to the mental sheath.
Nervous System: Functions, major and accessory organs of the nervous system (brain, spinal column, cranial nerves, spinal nerves). Gross anatomy of the brain: cerebrum, cerebellum, spinal cord. Physiology and vital connections of the cerebrum, pons, medulla, thalamus, hypothalamus, pineal gland, pituitary gland, cerebellum. Physiology of the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system: sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. The relation of the nervous system to the mental sheath.
Reproductive system: Also called the genital system of any organism, is the biological system which is made up of all the body organs involved in amphimixis. Many inanimate substances such as fluids, hormones and pheromones are important accessories of organs involved in producing offspring. In women, this includes the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and vagina while in men, it includes the prostate, testes, and penis.
A mantra is a sound of words that is repeated to achieve concentration in the process of meditation. The resonating sound creates rhythm between body and mind. Mantras are beneficial in yoga practice and they are quite helpful for the yogis to awaken oneself and elevate the meditative and practical aspects of yoga. Course Prerequisites
For this 300 hour teacher training course, you must fulfil the following requirements:
At least 200 hours of yoga teacher training is required
